Teacher Assistant Requirements in Minnesota

   

Requirements to work in Title I School
In order to become a teacher assistant, a minimum requirement of having a high school diploma/ GED is needed. In addition to that, the state of Minnesota requires at least one of the following requirements must be met:

  • Successfully complete at least two years (60 semester credits) of study at an institution of higher education
  • An associates degree from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and the ability to assist in the instruction of, reading, writing, and math by passing a formal and state approved assessment. The ParaPro exam has been approved for statewide use and the passing score is 460.

Pass state and federal background checks
